Infused Water Taste Test Challenge a huge success!

To promote the importance of drinking water, Healthy Kids Community Challenge Burlington spent the day getting kids and adults to “Taste Test” infused water recipes at the Burlington Mall. An interactive  demonstration and recipes are created by six schools in Burlington as part of the Taste Test Challenge. The winner of the challenge will get two water refill stations for their school.

The participating schools are:

  • Central Public School,
  • Lakeshore Public School,
  • Ryerson Public School,
  • St. Paul Catholic Elementary School,
  • Tecumseh Public School, and
  • Tom Tomson Public  School.

Patrons at the mall had the opportunity to try six different infused water recipes and vote for their favourite. The Burlington Mall graciously provided the space to Healthy Kids Community Challenge allowing  483 children and adults to participate and cast votes.
The two schools with the most votes and the winners of the water refill stations are:

St. Paul Catholic Elementary

Tecumseh Public School

Congratulations to all of the participating schools. They all played a big role helping to promote water as the best and healthiest way to stay hydrated!

Comments about Winter Play Scavenger Hunt

We really enjoyed participating 🙂 we are hooked on infusing our water 🙂

It was great fun and the whole family enjoyed the scavenger hunt.  I hope there will be more scavenger hunts another time!

Our family had SO much fun doing this scavenger hunt. It got us outside together more and helped us discover new parts of our community. I hope you have more initiatives like this in the future!

What a wonderful way to encourage winter play…it was great fun!

This was a really fun activity to do with my daughter.  We had a blast doing it.

March is Nutrition Month.

March is Nutrition Month. Let’s Take the Fight Out of Food

This Month, dietitians across Canada will ease the frustrations and close this knowledge gap by teaching Canadians how to overcome their food fights with a simple three-step approach – spot the problem, get the facts and seek support.

With accurate information and a good support system, Canadians will be better equipped to make decisions about food, without the fight.

Eat Right Ontario and HealthLink BC revealed that Canadians struggle with five common ‘food fights’, including:

  • Food Fads: How do I know which nutrition information to trust?
  • Digestive Woes: What’s causing all this gas?
  • Picky Eating: Why is family mealtime such mayhem?
  • Eating and Stress: Why do I always turn to food when I’m stressed?
  • Managing a Condition (e.g. diabetes): How can I manage my diabetes?
